this past week has been full of awfully hard days. and i think it's the winter blues. (i know blaming isn't right, but i feel the need.) a good day was very much needed.this morning, i awoke late, and felt well refreshed, and even though i had awoken well after my alarm clock should have sung, i was still on time for school. can we rejoice?
while driving, daylight was officially setting in. and the lamp posts were going to sleep. as i drove past, some would turn off. i began wishing on each flicker. and i only wished for one thing.
a good day.
and. by golly, it came true.
in first period, i read this quote.
keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come.
this provided a lovely visual. i experienced a whole lot of vitamin D during second period, by leaving the classroom for a nice nature walk. which nearly made me cry tears of joy. so much blessed sunshine. two of my favorite things. a. nature. b. natural lighting. i learned what people percieved elvis as. things like, "a ladies man." "a rockstar." "a man with great hair." people, you really should get to know the king. i'll teach you. in third period, we created pin hole cameras. and took pictures of our partners. i took a self portrait. sometimes, you work better alone. the photography classroom has three big windows. i asked to open the blinds. the teacher let me. i developed my own photo. it was beautiful. i face planted. in the hall. during lunch. and laughed. i wasn't embarrassed. i felt good about that. i found a recipe for homemade graham crackers. i sipped cocoa while sitting at a picnic table facing state street. i learned that the "light bulb" experience is very real. i heard neil on the radio twice. it's a good day when you hear neil on the radio. and learned all about my classmates by listening. sometimes, it's okay not to talk.
moral: it's okay to wish. in fact. i recommend it.
and. wishes do come true. today was proof.
three cheers for good days. hip. hip. hooray.
