frayed.

one time. i was in tibet and i was drinking tea. when i noticed a string of frayed flags blowing in the wind above me. i turned to an elderly man sitting a few seats away from me and i asked him a question. i said, "sir. will you please explain these to me? i am curious as to what exactly they are." i pointed at the flags and the kind old man answered. "they are tibetan prayer flags. the people of tibet believe that when the wind blows or there is a draft that causes the flags to move, the messages or prayers are read by the wind and carried up to the heavens. as the flags wear out, the strands of the flags flying into the wind symbolizes prayers being answered." and the man and i continued to talk. i asked questions and he answered.
and i was in awe.
except. i wasn't really in tibet. i was at the hogle zoo. and i wasn't really drinking tea. i only had a plastic water bottle. but the man i asked was elderly. and we did talk. and it turns out the story of the flags is true. (we read a sign.)
but this truly makes me want to visit tibet and drink tea.
and i'd like to wish on a prayer flag. just for kicks.
