Dear World,
Sometimes. When I sit in resource math, I am the only white person. Not that this is a problem. Its just the fact that I am the only white person....in UTAH. Wait. What? Yeah. Only white girl in math class. Its fun. Its a fun time. Though, at sememster change, good news! A new white kid. A boy, transfered into the class. Yay for white kids! This was two weeks ago when he transfered in, all i have ever done is smile at the young child. He smiles back. Well. Kinda, mostly he just stares, but eh. In my book, that counts as a smile really. That was the only contact this dear blonde and I had ever made, until today.
I walked into resource math. Alone. Late. Took my seat in the front left corner away from the druggies, mexicans (again. i like them. nothing wrong), polynesians, indians, and a few asians. Smiled at little white boy who normally sits two desks behind me, but for some reason, today was sitting in the seat directly behind me. He stared. I took my seat, pulled out my paper and pencil and opened Harry Potter. (You see Ms. Smithson, the lovely lady she is, allows us to chit chat for about ten minutes before class starts. On account of I not having any friends, I read harry. Which is good enough for me.) So I read Harry. Pretty soon Miss Smithson starts class, She turns on the Elmo, flips on her microphone and clears her throught. I smile at her butterfly hair pin, compliment her, and we begin class. She lectures. I answer, most of the time wrong. But I try to brown nose best I can. Teachers like that stuff.
When the lesson is over, Miss Smithson hands out our homework. I settle in and begin to work. Its all good. Most class members talk and chat about who macked on who, who busted their kneecap fourwheeling, who experienced a drastic fall, and of course you can always hear a few "dopes" sprinkled in here and there. I normally sit by myself, race through my homework, turn it in and continue reading Harry Potter. Today, I planned no differently. I handed blondie behind me his paper, smiled at him and turned to do my homework. I circled an answer for question 1 and began to work out number 2, but all of a sudden to my right, directly by my ear I heard a "Hi!" I turned, It was blondie.
I smiled, "Hello."
He continued on, " I have been sitting behind you, wanting to get to know you for some time, so, here we go, I'm Colin. What's your name?" (He may not sound creepy, but the way he said it, believe me, was uber creepy, ask me some time, I will renact.)
I grinned again, "Well. I'm Mandi. Nice to meet you Colin."
Colin and I continued to talk. I guess since we are the only white kids in the entire math class next to the goths (who dont count at all) it was destiny we become friends. He went about it quite creepily. But its okay. I like it.
I went directly to Amanda as soon as I could and told her all about it. I said:
"Amanda. I think he is a creepster."
"No. Mandi. He just needs friends."
"Amanda, you say that about everyone."
"Well. Everyone needs a friend."
So. It is safe to say, that no matter how creeper Colin is, I like him and He and I will be friends in resource math. Because everyone needs a friend.
Yours Truly:
Miss Mandi.
P.S. Bunny Boy was absent from radio today. If he isn't there by next class period, I am filing a missing persons report. Life isn't the same without him.
