You know her?

"Oh yeah? Mandi. I know her. I hate her."
Words overheard in the girl's locker room today after swim practice. I find this quite amusing, because I could honestly not tell you this girl's frist name. Perhaps that's why she hates me. I am not going to be like other girls and sit around pretending i like to be hated, because truth be told, I hate to be hated. We all love to be loved. We can't pretend it isn't true. Hearing your name and the word hate in the same sentance takes a stab at your pride, your ego, even your ancestors sometime. This was my first thought to hearing these words.

Next thought: Walk out of the stall and surprise her, with a friendly hello. Which was intended. But instead, i stayed put, listening to the words escape this chick's mouth. Words such as slacker, hater, skank. Woah woah woah. Excuse me. Yes. I am a slacker at swim practice, i never show, si. I admit to hating swim team alot of the time before i get in the water, but skank. I don't think so. I have never been kissed and up to the beginning of sophmore year i believed skank was just skunk spelled incorrectly. As you can imagine, i sat in the stall, my mouth hanging completly open, with awe that this chick, i have never even met before would say this things about me, i'm not going to lie. It stung.

Thought number three: Really. Walk out there. This time i did. I flushed the toilet, cleared my throught quite loudly and stepped out of the bathroom stall. I turned the corner and walked to the sink where the little girl was standing. Freshman. I take that back. I did know her. Her name was Sarah. I smiled at her. "Heeeeeeey. Hows it?" She smiled back "Hey Mandi. Have you met that new girl, she's going to be a sophmore this year, i believe her name is Mandy too."
